GAS LOOP
An air washing system that removes ammonia from the air of stables and recovers it in an ammonium sulphate solution
GAS LOOP has developed an air washing system designed to tackle the issue of ammonia emissions in pig farming. By drawing air from beneath the slatted floor of pig stables and treating it with sulfuric acid, this system effectively removes ammonia, significantly reducing emissions by 54%. Notably, the improved air quality within the stables not only benefits the pigs’ health but also enhances the well-being of workers. The recovered ammonia is transformed into ammonium sulphate fertiliser, which contributes to a substantial reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 66t CO2 equivalents per year.
