This topic focused on two EIP-AGRI Operational Groups Biorefinery Glás from Ireland and Grass2Algae from Belgium as case studies that increased the value of grass from margins or low-quality grass that cannot be used as feed and is often deemed as waste. The production of nutrient-rich grass juice as a fertiliser supplement for microalgae production for cattle feed is discussed. Production of nutrient-rich grass whey from grass biorefinery substream applied as fertilisers, which has comparable results to cattle slurry, is also addressed.
